India takes on illegal diclofenac manufacturers
In a welcome increase in pressure on the illegal manufacturing of veterinary diclofenac the state's Drug Controller in Bihar State, India, launched a First Information Report (FIR) to prosecute a company producing veterinary diclofenac. The FIR was lodged with the police department by officials of the Drug Control Administration in Bihar against Raathi Laboratories (Hindusthan) Private Limited who found to be illegally manufacturing veterinary forms of diclofenac after the ban on this drug. The complaint against Raathi Laboratories follows raids on two pharmaceutical shops in Patna where over 1000 vials of diclofenac were seized. We congratulate the State Drug Controller of Bihar J P Singh on his efforts and initiative to crack down on the illegal manufacturer of diclofenac. Similar raids on pharmaceutical shops have also apparently been carried out in Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.
